Nope, it's normal that it takes a while for your body to get used to the new riding position. Can you post a picture of your bike from the side so we can see how it's set up?

The saddle height should be so that your leg's not completely extended (knee so very slightly angled) when the pedal is on its downmost position and the saddle setback should be configured so that your weight is distributed on the bike comfortably (google "KOPS" for a good starting positioning).

Handlebar positioning is more a matter of taste and not as critical as the saddle, but if the bars/hoods are angled too low it can get uncomfortable.

Same guy, sorry about the awful image, all my housemates are sleeping despite it being 2 in the afternoon so I've tried balancing it and using the timer. I should be able to get a better pic later. On the pic I've attached the leg closest to the camera/right leg is with the pedal at the six position, other leg holding me up.

Also going to try the kops thing and go for another ride and see if that helps. Thankyou

You're putting too much weight on your arms. The reach might be too long for you. Lean forward a bit more when riding and adopt a more aggressive posture, it's a road bike.
I hope you're still growing, as it's usually better to err on the smaller side when buying bikes, since it's easier to extend reach than to reduce it.

this, your arms does look a bit stretched forward. You can try alleviating this with a shorter stem or adjusting saddle setback forward

Thanks, I am still growing so will hopefully grow into it.

When you say shorter stem would it be ok to just use a mtb one I already have? I have something very similar to tis already, but it looks vvery short compared to the one it came with.

Most likely that will be too short, Anon. Road stems come in different sizes so a shorter one won't be tough to find. your area probably has a Facebook group for buying and selling bikes and parts. It would be a good idea to check there once you figure out what length and degree of stem you want to look for

One other thing not yet mentioned is that if your saddle is angled with the nose pointing downward then your weight is pushing you into your bars, forcing your arms to support more of your weight than they should, which could account for arm pain.
You want to "level the saddle" although it's a little confusing. The key is to get the _middle third_ of the saddle to be level with the ground. However, the nose tip may taper downward on some models this way. The bulbous rear third will either be level or commonly somewhat higher than the middle in profile. Your sitbones will crush down the rear a bit and also this helps from sliding backward too easily.
Your weight should be fairly equally balanced between the three points of contact with the bike: pedals, saddle, and handlebar.
Think of your saddle more as a perch than a seat.

I think the stem reach is a valid issue but mostly your body is probably not used to cycling yet. Hang in there. 30 miles is more than a little ambitious for a new rider, especially on a bike you haven't dialed in the fit on.

I've ridden "a lot" for about 3 years and could go 100 miles on my old mtb with little trouble/can easily max out the gearing on this one on flat pavement (it's geared lower than a normal road bike).

For wrists rotating bars or changing brake hood position should help. Look at the angle of your wrist when holding the bars and adjust so your wrists are straight.

For neck saddle setback, stem length and saddle height all come into play. A saddle that is too high has a fairly large effect.

Nice bike dude, you'll be sore for a while. Play with adjustments, get a shorter stem, and rotate positions while riding. I felt like a dork for ages because I would stay on the tops for most my ride to avoid wrist pain, but as I got used to it I'm now more comfortable on the hoods.

Don't bother getting a bike fit if you're under 20/expecting to grow more.

Thanks to everyone ITT. Did the things people mentioned (been sick so unable to for a while) and now wrist pain is almost gone and neck feels much better.

I think I'm going to order a 45 degree stem anyway since I'm not looking to go fast and it's quite easy to pedal so am stuck in the highest gears anyway. Are there going to be any unforseen issues with this?

I did this when I had my first roadie.

The problem was my saddle was too high. This was making me tip forward and put undue weight on my hands.

OP try lowering the saddle a little if you're still having problems. Not a massive amount, a small adjustment makes a big difference.

This is terrible advice.
Your saddle height shouldn't change your weight distribution. It is entirely down to your leg length.

What you needed to do was raise your bars, shorten your reach, or adjust the fore-aft of your saddle.

I went from MTB to road and put a stem with a similar ridiculous angle on my first roadie, too. After many years, I copped another bike with a normal straight stem and dailied it for a year. I had a repair issue so I pulled out the old bike and that angle felt super awkward. It felt right when I was used to MTB but now I'd rather have the stem it came with on it.

tl;dr after you ride road for a good while, try borrowing a bike with a straight stem and compare. your preference can change radically.

anon you have to sit in the saddle fundamentally different on a drop bar road bike.

Your pics indicate someone who is sitting on it as if it is a mountain bike. bend at the hips more and sit on your sit bones.

The bike doesn't seem out of whack or anything or particularly long on you. even sitting in your room your arms are comfortably bent.

You may want to rotate your bars upward a tiny bit to make the fit more comfy. Forget going out and blindly spending $30 on a stem.
