Reality is though that plenty of Eurofags use this board as well, and let me tell you, we don't idolise the trains in Japan, because they're probably as flawed as they are in Europe too. Why go on about how Shinkansen trains are "wow, so fast" when the TGV, ICE, AVE, Eurostar, Thalys or whatever is just as fast? Why go on about remote branch lines going to the middle of nowhere when we have the exact same?
I think this is just a North American thing, and without going too much on it, I think a lot of North Americans go on one holiday to Japan, go nuts about their public transport, gush about it everywhere. Meanwhile anyone from Europe will just look at Japan and go "yep, we have that too". Maybe not at the same scale as the Asian megacities, but certainly in some way or another.
