Well everyone don't be a dumbass like me. I was trying to adjust my brakes and my finger slid while I had the wheel spinning and my finger got chopped pretty bad. Blood went everywhere. Tip of my finger bone broke, got three stitches, and my fingernail is gonna fall off soon. I'm a total dumbass. So, don't do what I did.

Anyway, I put my finger in the sprockets once and a tooth went under my fingernail just slightly. Not even any blood, but the pain was immense. I still clench on the memory.

Got t-boned by some polish skank and did a nice screw in the air.
Fractured my right wrist and my left ankle.
And this 2 days after I upgraded my bike with a noice bell,2x9 gearing(instead of 1x)cassette,chain and Bottom bracket and new shifters.

Had three accident so far.

1. Yolo'd a forest road downhill which I had never ridden before. Hit a pothole, somersaulted over my bike. Walked my bicycle 8 kilometers to the nearest hospital with a broken clavicle and a mutilated hand (pic related). Entirely my fault for not using brakes on an unfamiliar road. It hurt a lot but my injuries were fairly benign considering what could have happened.
2. On my daily grocery shopping ride. It was winter, the road was slippery due to ice. I somehow fell off my bike, fractured my ulna and radius. Waited half an hour for the bus to get me to the nearest hospital instead of calling an ambulance. There I was transported immediately to a larger hospital nearby for surgery due to high risk of infection of the wound. Rough stuff considering how lame the accident was.
3. Got hit by a car (female driver) trying to overtake me. It happened abroad, which complicated things. My body hit the windscreen before I landed onto the ground. Hit my head, lost consciousness. I came to when the ambulance arrived, took about half an hour. Had my forehead stitched in the hospital and suffered several injuries on my left body side but most importantly, my knee got fucked. Tore my posterior cruciate ligament and fractured my tibial plateau. My bicycle took the brunt of the damage though, looked even worse than me.
My knee is permanently damaged. I still experience dull pain on an almost daily basis but I'm very happy I'm still alive. I could very easily be dead or potato now.

I never wore and still don't wear a helmet. I'm not a faggot lol.

Probably at 12yo, was riding very fast my 24¨ brand new xmas bike on the sideways of course like the retarded child I was, then suddenly tripped over a bump and my bike flipped vertically, I flyed over and landed with my chin on the pavement, that left me some horrible rash on the neck and my jaw feels weird since then, but is barely noticeable.

Im 29yo today and never again since that day I have had another accident on a bike.

And when the doctor stuck numbing needles in my finger I flinched like a bitch and the doctor got mad. Reading your post made me realize I'm a giant pussy. I reminded myself of that ww2 doctor who performed surgery with no sedatives on his own intestine then looked at my finger and realized it could be much worse lol

Did you have to get that shit stitched? Local anesthetic shots hurt like a butch when you have to get your fingernail pried off, I had that happen when I chopped a finger with a rear cog.

Nope. Even if I had wanted to sue somebody for something (for what exactly? accidents happen, that's just a risk inherent in the sport) I never did find out who the other party was, and what little I heard about what happened was told to me second-hand weeks later.

Doctor told me I have to see a hand doctor soon but said that I could just let the fingernail fall off. My mom had a botched surgery on her toenails and had something similar so she just let her nail fall off over time and she said it didn't hurt at all. So, for sure gonna see if I can just let them fall off.

Fell off my bike and hit a fence about three months ago and broke my wrist.
Literally no-one around me in any direction, I just took my eye off the path to look at the river I was riding next to because it was looking really nice that afternoon with the sun setting behind it.

Broke my wrist, took six weeks off work, took six weeks reduced duties at work and have mostly recovered now. Still haven't ridden my bike because I didn't take it to the LBS to get fixed until a few weeks ago and they're waiting for a part to arrive in the post to finish it.

Shit sucked but I was overdue for it, I'd nearly crashed twice the day before and that day, I was sleepy as hell after work and just distracted.

Only other major incidents were me falling off my bike whilst riding around France in 2008, scraped the buggery out of my leg and rode back to the bike rental place bleeding and fell off my bike in 2015 in the rain and scraped my arm a little bit.
So overall I've been pretty lucky.

I posted from another thread but had an open fracture of my clavicle because a car cut me off. Ended up breaking it up in 5 places. A full plate on the bone and 9 screws.

How long did it take for you to get back on the bike? Not riding in summer is suffering.

My least favourite way to be injured by my bike is to have a foot slip off the pedal, then with the force of the other foot pushing down, the pedal spins back around and hits me in the shin. I hate this shit with a goddamn passion and I've only had it happen to me once. Ever since I've been paranoid about clipping in properly.

About two months to ride again at all, and another month after that before I was comfortable riding in anything but an upright posture. I had discomfort and minor pain in the soft tissue around the plate that gradually diminished over the course of the following year, but it was manageable and didn't stop me from riding, only limited how much time I could spend in an aggressive posture without feeling achy. I borrowed a turbo trainer from a friend and that proved especially helpful for the first couple of months of working to regain fitness.
