Bought some new tires (pic related) and finally got a KOM I had been trying to get a long time. 35 km/h for 45 seconds on the flat like it was nothing, it's hard to believe people ride anything else.

Fatter=better anon. That's as long as it's a supple af tyre with a sparse base fabric. For puncture protection you should be running tubs with sealant though.

Even faster is a wheel where all the strength is in the hubs and butted ss spokes with a light but strong rim.

Those compass tyres with the extralight casing seem the business, but you need sealant and the right rims to make them really work for you. Supple tyres are king, but TPI is a cheat spec if they don't spec the thread weight..

Fatbike tyres are not supple and generally have many layers of fabric so aren't supple at all.
Fatter is better assuming the tyre is supple enough to scale, especially if you keep the pressure as a constant.
It's especially true for tubulars.

I've raced those same tires CX a few times. They are not great raving tires but they are fun in mostly dry dirt/gravel conditions. CX racing is pretty muddy in my area and they aren't quite aggressive enough for it really.

If you aren't racing on them you'll have a good time on mulit surface rides. They definitely are slower than slick 25s on pavement. Dont get new tubes, go tubeless instead.

GP4ks are really aero due to the tread pattern. Vittoria's open tubulars are really unaero due to the way it's constructed. 23 mm GP4k with latex tubes mounted to a wide, +25 mm, rim is unironically a great TT tire.

I hope you can try them. For what it's worth I loved the 26x2.0" size, and the 700x38 size. 700x32 sucked, however. Not sure why but they felt too hard and slow compared to one side up

I went from old thick slicks I found in a Jimmy John's basement to gp4000's, and shaved 10 minutes off my 11mile commute. 10 FUCKING MINUTES. officially makimg it faster than driving and just as fast as my ebike. The difference from one end of the spectrum to the other is insane. It felt like the first time I road a real bike after only having experienced Walmart cancer.

It is not our fault you are a poorfag. Compass tires have an amazing ride feel, are fast and since they are available in thicker sizes you can have much more confidence on the bike.

The best upgrade you can make to a bike is your tires, PERIOD. It is not the place to cheap out. You can take an expensive $10,000 bike and put Schwalbe Marthon Plus tires and it will ride like crap. Or you can take a $1,000+ bike, slip on Compass ultra-lights and it will ride like a boss.

But you choose to poorfag... Enjoy being dumb and poor. Do you also drink Pabst Blue Ribbon?

GP4KS2 is way better than gatorskin or compass.
It offers about 1/3 lower rolling resistance and significantl higher puncture protection than the compass tires at almost half the weight, as tested by bicyclerollingresistance.com

Steel drum testing is beyond useless. It gives false feedback and no testing is even better than the steel drum model. Even 18-19mm tires at cartoonishly high psi were in vogue once thanks to steel drum testing!

Constant machine force is applied in the steel drum test. The steel surface is too smooth and incomparable to a real road, trail, gravel, etc.

That is why the test is unrealistic. A rider on wider tires will be able to apply more force because the micro-jolts from the pavement/concrete will be more dampened. So their body will be in a better position to apply force on the pedal than a rider on thinner tires who doesn't receive as much shock absorption.

Also that steel drum has crosses on it but it is still very unrealistic, because it is a test on steel and people don't ride on steel surfaces.

What surface roughness? It is a steel drum with x like notches that you see on the back on pickup trunk tool boxes.

In the past 18 mm tires were in vogue thanks to the unrealistic feedback of steel drum testing.

Do you have any better test?
The softer the tire, the more you loose when pedaling hard, especialy in out of saddle efforts.
(same thing as with suspension on MTB)

Anyway, I just came back from a ride on my 25mm tires and felt just about no vibrations except for the cobble and pothole parts.

He’s clearly too dumb to understand what statistically significant results are. He claims wider tires are faster up to 25 mm wide, but then goes on to say they’re only 1% faster. I don’t know what laboratory equipment he’s using, but if he’s making that claim he must have the deepest pockets of any cyclist to be able to afford analytical equipment with that level of precision.

His testing equipment is a soapbox derby track, a bicycle, and a bunch of different tires mounted on the same model of wheel. On calm days with mild temps, he coasts down a hill and has a couple of spotters take note of time. His theory is that lab tests, particularly those using small rollers, are shit because they don't simulate real world conditions at all, leading to tires that are designed to do well in labs but are shit irl.
