They already have 5,000 gallon tanks and run thousands of miles without fueling.

That's some natural gas that is mixed with the diesel to be cleaner and more fuel efficient on a trial basis.

Allow me to show you the the most powerful locomotive in Germany, an one of the most powerful locomotives in Europe.

It's the DB Baureihe 155, formerly the Deutsche Reichsbahn Baureihe 250. It was manufactured by LEW Henningsdorf in 1974 by the socialist German Democratic Republic in order to fulfil the needs of heavy freight operations. Problem was that nothing was powerful enough, so with a combination of Soviet train design knowledge and German engineering, they built something which became known as the "Powercontainer".

What's best to note about this thing, was that it was unrivaled in power in the GDR, and after reunification and the formation of Deutsche Bahn AG (merging the Bundesbahn and the Reichsbahn together), DB became highly interested in the newly classed 155, and modified it for West German signalling. The career of the 155 would be to haul the heaviest trains in the Rhein area, some 30-40 years after it was manufactured for a Socialist state.

The stats are very impressive though, and some of the stats are unrivaled. Its best stat is tractive effort, at 480kN, which is unrivaled by any Western European locomotive, at least to my knowledge. It has the power of 7,200 horsepower (or 5,400 kW), which is insane, and is only rivaled by some other electric locomotives from Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.

I've been interning at NS as a supervisor, it's a weird dynamic, lot of great employees, a lot of terrible. Not too much in between. The management structure is terrible though, not a lot of good communication.

Man, the FEC is such a fucking weird railroad.
* They're a Class II that operates like a Class I.
* They almost exclusively deal in short-haul intermodal freight, yet they're profitable.
* Their mainline is super high-quality, and has cab signalling, ATC, and will soon have PTC, even though they're exempt from PTC requirements.
* They're actually HAPPY to have passenger trains on their mainline - they don't try and stonewall them like CSX.
If any freight railroad is ever gonna electrify voluntarily, it's probably them. Not now, but a decade in the future? I could see it.
