Fuji Touring LTD 2018 with Brooks Allweather carved C17 in a clean, climate controlled train at the german/dutch border where the monthly ticket is only 120€.

Name a better way to commute.

Breddy good, just annoying that DB charges extra for bikes.
I would recomend getting a 26" folder, since DB doesn't charge anything for them.

Bretty guud. Would always prefer dyno-hub though.
Sort your fender line at front wheel. The bottom sticks out too much.
Also, get a mudflap that actually keeps your chainrings clean.

Batteries are OK for city. I'd use that bike for touring as well and I'd hate being dependent on batteries.

Get rid of your spoke reflectors - your tire rims are reflective.

I'd change the fugly front reflector and fix it to the fork so it turns with the wheel.

Also, I'd shorten the bolt coming out at the back of the fork.

Finally, start looking for pedals. Yours are cheapo stock pedals that won't last long.

Touring is a great bike, however:
- they dropped that sweet sweet military green colour somewhere around 2017;
- rear brake cable gets noisy;
- unadjustable brakes.
Props for the lugged fork, tho!

I ride 23km to work and back every day.

Yeah it takes an hour each way but is way more fun than sitting in a train.

I'm lucky enough to have a MUP on my commute where I live now, but I'm probably moving soon, my commute distance will be cut in half but my commute time will be basically the same (I did a test run)

there are lots of fuji dealers in the US who will ship internationally. Call them or find the model you want on bikeexchange.com and call them. Most of the fuji dealers who deliver are from the greater Dallas area. So that means you will be riding an old Japanese-named bike, bought by an American company, forged in China, Sold in Texas, bought by a Dutchman and shipped to the Netherlands.

What a world we live in now! Too bad all the richies stole the $ for themselves.

They also changed the rear drop-outs and i'm not sure if mounting a rear rack on seatstay braze-ons is a good idea.

The spoke holders mounted on the left chainstay are gone.

And of course, they bumped up the price.

Nope, can't beat that level of comfy... except that saddle choice. I'll say though, I was multimodal myself a month ago and bike + train = super comfy. Now that I think about it, you could go one step comfier by riding a ferry after the train, cycling the distance between the train and ferry of course.

Yes, despite the changes I think it's a good value.

For americans willing to deal with bike assembly, the current version of the Nashbar Touring bike is basically the Fuji Touring 2017 with a different paint job. Nashbar and Fuji are owned by the same company. Also a good value.

you can't complain too much about the ASIs of the world. Without them Fuji would be defunct as they went bankrupt in the early 90s. ASI works with true LBSs and don't require that they only sell ASI stuff like other brands like Spesh

Raleigh USA has the same type of story. They are well made and cheap now because their bones were bought out of bankruptcy by the conglomerate that owns Diamondback.

It's just a nicer frameset. The paint in blue looks a lot better as well. Also a shadow mech. Probably weighs less. $300 is not an enormous price difference either, when you consider that really nice steel framesets start at $1200 for the frameset alone.

They are both nearly perfect for touring though, aside from not having a Dynamo. It's kind of crazy that so many people buy expensive meme bikes when these heavy ol gal's will be faster up a climb loaded in 26x34 than whatever dumb adventure bike with road gearing.

There still is a boss on the dropout. The bend on the seat stays looks pretty cool as well and probably serves a purpose for the ride.

The thing I hate the most about these bikes is that they routed the brake cable under the top tube which makes them a cunt to carry

We have a lot of bicycle infrastructure but it’s not all pristine. It’s good enough for riding around on city bikes at moderate speeds but we’re not neccesarily a good place for road and track bikes. Often the cars get the perfect tarmac and the bikepath is pic related.

Also, having a few gears is nice when you have to ride through an open polder landscape to work with strong headwinds. People with single speeds sometimes have to get off and walk when it gets stormy.
