Why are they they undisputed goats of cycling? They don't even have cycling serviceable roads.. Is it just superior genetics?

Our roads really are shit. I did ride london on Sunday, every 250m or more there were puncture victims. Because we'd had the dry spell and then a sudden rain apparently.

I think there's something to be said about the lack of bullying, if not the outright encouragement, that comes with riding a bike.

As far as culture is concerned, if you are over the age of 15 and riding a bike in America, you ARE a failure. Bikes are sold in the toy department for fucks sake. (And that says nothing of the street harassment you encounter while riding.)

Same reason why Americans suck at soccer; it's only played by children and is viewed more as an outdoor daycare center/program than it is a valid sport. You're actively discouraged and given no reward for applying yourself there.

riding bikes is totally practical and healthy. anyone that can't see the benefits or values in riding a bicycle is probably retarded (aka americans) but i can see how one could assume its looked down upon because driving a car comes with much more bonuses than a bike in terms of size, comfort, etc..
