Bought a fixie. I love it. I think it looks great and rides well. However there's two issues.

1. There's a few ugly decals on it. They're not below a coating of laque so they should be removable, however I'm scared of scratching the bike. Is this too risky of an undertaking?

2. I want to change the handlebar to one that's a bit higher sitting. However the cable to the frontal V-brake is too short for this. Is it difficult to change this cable for a longer one? Can a retard like me pull it off following youtube instructions?
