>>1223329- Extending Shinkansen network with improved journey time have driven out most airlines competition
- Opening of KIX, UKB, new KKJ, further expansion of HND, NRT reduced slot congestion
- For the two main domestic airport, ITN have already banned 4-engine jets for noise reason, and A380 usage at HND seems to be limited by time and other factors and thus isn't really particle
- Bankruptcy of JAL and ANA force them to put more focus on increasing load factor and increasing revenue per seat, which mean cutting capacity and using smaller aircrafts
- I suspect A380-800 is too ULR-optimized(overbuilt) that won't perform that good on short journey in term of cost per seats due to those extra structure. I heard CZ's A380 CAN-PEK flight aren't really profiting
- Airlines in Japan tend to buy Boeing aircraft instead of Airbus
- Japanese economic growth have soften in past decades and so as the travel demand
- ANA take those A380 was only as a condition to allow them take over Skymark by gaining Airbus support on the proposal (When Skymark bankrupt they have some debts on Airbus so Airbus have a say on this). This is strategically important for ANA to do so otherwise a Delta-lead group would takeover the airlines and might form a third competitor in Japanese aviation market.
