For example a 42 tooth chainring is considered large on a MTB, but small on a roadbike.
420 mm bars are considered wide on a roadbike, but narrow on a MTB.
23-25 mm tires are normal on a roadbike, while 2-2,5" tires are normal on most kinds of MTB.
On most roadbike frames the widest possible tire you can fit is somewhere around 28-32 mm.
40 mm may fit on some gravel/cyclocross bikes, but not on normal roadbikes.
