From an aircraft you get out the thickest part of the atmosphere. It certainly wouldn't be suitable for all types of launches, presumably limited to solid fuel rockets.

The big dumb booster again?
They have terrible specific impulses, don't offer throttle controll and are not realy reuseable.
I mean, I'm all for lowering launch costs and don't want to sound like a Musk-fanboy, but can it even compete with the launchcosts of Falcon 9?

The main advantage of air launch is not, and never will be, starting from altitude. The benefits are the wide range of reachable inclinations, avoiding bad weather at the launch site, avoiding boats wandering into your exclusion zone etc.

It's worth an extra ~5% payload mass. Not a lot when you consider the additional costs involved, such as building the largest aircraft ever.
