Why would a locomotive ever look like a penis again?
Most locomotives are either electric in Europe, or high power diesel in North America. Both are more considered for frieght or niche services. HSR, maybe, but those are EMUs.

Yes they had the same problems and maybe even more! They where never derated to my knowledge...Norfolk Southern has them all now and has rebuilt them into SD80ACU's
