>>1232925Imagine this, OP:
The man in your pic, when he was a teenager and maybe into his twenties, was an athlete, maybe he did a little bike racing. Now he's middle-aged, has allowed himself to get fat and weak, and decided he hates that and wants to fix that problem. He buys a bike better than he needs right now because his *intent* is to get down to a respectable bodyfat percentage, build his endurance and strength, and enter some Masters' category road races; he's got *goals* and he knows how to get there, is willing to do the work.
TL,DR: A picture may be worth 1000 words, but they may be the *wrong* words. Don't judge.
>>1232929>>1232947Unless you can identify the make and model bike and go look up it's frame geometry, you really can't say one way or the other whether it's a race bike or just an endurance-geometry bike. Just based on what little I can see, the rider is sitting up way too much, even if he were in the drops, for it to be a pure race bike.
>>1232955Some combination of teenage rebellion and transferrence of resentment against their own fathers?
Also /n/ tends to hate on anyone who isn't on a fixie or an old steel tenspeed, apparently because so many denizens of /n/ can't afford anything else and hate on people who can.
