I just rode one of these today for the first time, and it was actually pretty cool.

Lots of people in my city hate them, but they're just NIMBY scum.

I feel like in a city centre, a "child's scooter", as you call it, is a much better option than a single-occupancy motor vehicle. Especially when coupled with a working and efficient transit system.

Do you have a counterpoint to this, or are you just anti-scooter?

They're neat in theory and seem to replace some rideshare bullshit, at least when it's sunny out. But most of the riders are drunk retards who are a danger to themselves and everyone else, the scooters are going to pile up in my city's river and landfills. Lime and bird just replace broken scooters instead of repairing them, since they cost around $100 a pop or even less, depending on volume. Apparently the average scooter lasts 1-3 months.

They're around that if you buy them in bulk direct from Xiaomi. About $250 if you buy them in bulk from some middleman on alibaba. If you just want to buy one from Amazon or wherever, they're $500.

There has got to be a way to claim them permanently. I'd have to have some hands on time with one to see how easy it is to open one up and remove the GPS/alarm.

At the very least, you could dunk one in water to drown it and then replace what doesn't survive to get a discount e-scooter.
