So how do motorcycles do it?

The real issue is that it would drive up bicycle prices to entry level motorcycle tier, it would add potential faulty points, and it would complicate home repairs. If you want something full of electronics that you can't repair yourself you can already buy a modern motorcycle, no need to ruin bicycles as well.

Pretty easy to do, just add microswitches to levers for braking lights, and switch on the bars for blinkers/nightlight.

What is bluetooth? You don't need wires for this. The only reasin for a wire would be charging.

Why? Regenerative brakes in cars are fucking awful, and scaling down wold make the even shittier. The weight/cost penality would kill it instantly.

Regenerative brakes exist too, on some ebike hubs (charge battery as they stop)

Nope, no good way to mount them on dropbars and since bikes don't tend to have dual crown forks (except for downhill-MTB) there is no good place to mount them.

You could build a USB-charger into the cap of your headset

Internal cable routing is already a thing with roadbikes.

Hell, no.

But shimano could offer something like that for their Di-2 drivetrains.

The problem with most of this is, that it adds weight, cost and complexity for verry little gain.
Only the brake-light and hub-dynamo charger are worth considering IMHO.

Shinano already has a semi-automatic mode. Instead of shifting front or rear, you just indicate you want a higher or lower gear, and Di2 will shift both to give you the next incremental gear up. I guess that the idea is to make a half-step setup easier to manage.

Indeed, thinking about it:

With a 50/52 chainset and a 10-50 12-speed cassette you would end up with 24 seperate gears over 520% gearing range.
Compared to like 17-18 gears on a conventional 2x12.

There isn't much to upgrade on a roadbike.
Maybe a fork simmilar to the lauf grit and bent seatstays for better ride quality, more gears, more stiffness and less weight, but that is about it.

However they could increase the amount of siezes they produce since small riders (<160cm) struggle with getting aero, maybe give them a 650C front wheel, a 700C rear and 320mm bars.
Tall riders (>205cm) struggle with seatpost length, excessive drop and a shitload of flex.

Show me a legitimate advantage a "updated" bike like that would have over my roadbike.
It weights more, costs more and automatic shifting/braking midcorner or in traffic would be dangerous.

Also I am not against new tech in bikes, just against stuff that has no overall benefit.
Carbon fiber, power-meters, and modern headunits are great.

Or you could 'update' your bike for the mid-20th century with a simple dynohub setup. With neodymium and led lights they are extremely practical: the additional weight of the hub weighs less than a pair of AAs, and the light is bright enough to light your path with imperceptible resistance. I ride all winter long in Edmonton, AB, and the system is one of the few parts of the bike that has never given me any trouble. They even make 'brake' lights that detect a falling power frequency and automatically brighten! Top-end gear costs top-end dollars of course but the technology is very mature, you just have to order it from Europe.

Road-going vehicles with no lights at all is bullshit anytime, let alone at night! Goes double for kids bikes.

The problem is that the batteries tend to run out halfway into a tour, had that happen with a friend on a Bosch mid-drive on a longer climb.
He had to ride back down at only ~1500m.

If you now increase the electricity requirement on the bike, it just gets worse.

Hub dynamos are based, they barely add any resistance and give you enough electricity for rather bright lights or a phone charger.

I've been thinking of putting them on my light touring bike for some time now, when I get around to doing a comprehensive upgrade of the wheels, brakes, and drivetrain. But, I absolutely love how it handles right now, and I feel like adding weight in the front will turn it into a shitty tank. I might do a dynorear so that I always have a rear light, which I'm more concerned about than front.

I wouldn't be too concerend about the weight of a dyno on a touring bike, it'll have some effect, but most touring bikes have fairly long wheelbases and slack ht angles or swept forks, so the effect that a bit more frontend weight will have on the already somewhat laid back steering should be small

Lights are a barely noticeable drain compared to an electric motor.

Also, it's not particularly difficult to build an ebike with a premade battery that's got four times the capacity of a typical ebike.

I like dynamos, but with advances in energy density recently they're getting less and less useful.

2. Four battery packs of 500Wh are realy fucking heavy and turn the handling into total shit and don't realy fit on most bikes.
IIRC there are downtube batteries, seattube batteries (don't always fit with downtube batteries), chainstay batteries and rack mounted batteries.
If you try to fit all four of them, you need a long chainstay frame, a special rack and can run zero bottlecages.
