I'm sure part of the reason why pros didn't ride it much is because the mechanics surely hated it on top of the pros not being fond of how the bike rides. Just look at how all the new aero bikes have a separate stem+bar combination instead of one piece system that would be a few watts faster. That is guaranteed to be due to feedback from pro mechanics that are fed up with one piece cockpits and the hassle they are for traveling and maintenance.
>>1240049Going full aero isn't a problem on a TT bike that's only purpose for existing is to go fast in a flattish straightish line. It starts to become a problem if it hinders the ride quality, braking, handling, and maintenance on a road bike that's ridden in a variety of terrain over much longer distances. On a TT bike compromises in all those qualities can be forgiven, up to a certain point of course, as long as the bike goes faster thanks to those compromises.
