Not sure if this belongs here or /diy/, but it's for fitness reasons, and usually people who know bike mechanics usually are biking for fitness reasons, so i guess I'll start here.
I have a 10 year old trek bike from walmart that is starting to go. The gears slip alot, the cables are rusted to shit, and it needs a lot of work, but still rides. It's also heavy as shit and a pain in the ass to bring inside and outside (commute in the city) so I figured I would build a new bike. I've heard bamboo bikes are light and strong, and this service bamboobee sells a 299 bamboo bike frame kit on amazon. Is a bamboo frame worth it? Is there any other frames that would be comparable to how light a bamboo frame is? I've never built a bike, but I've done repairs on my current one before.
