Hi /n/,

What do you guys think of the Delfast e-bike? Is it worth pre-ordering? I am considering putting $300 down on one for a commuter in the coming months.

You would be much better off getting an electric scooter as they have some basis in being treated as objects of the road and are also likely cheaper. You will get pulled over on that shit all the time because it is a fucking electric motorcycle, not a bike.

My commute would be around 120km round trip, i live in Sydney so i get tolled out the arsehole even on my motorbike, a "bicycle" technically doesnt pay tolls, rego etc etc

E bike owner here.

Thats not impresive since that is the range you get driving 25 km/h using 250W.
To go 60 km/h you need 1500W because of the increased wind resistance.

Tldr it 236 miles of range if you want to sit on the damn thing 24 hours traveling at the speed of a mobility scooter

It goes that far at 21.5 km/h (13.5 mph) where aero isn#t a factor. At more realistic speeds over 50 km/h it will probably only about the half distance.

it's 25 km/h assisted, I think our regulations are mostly the same as europe.

Sydney in particular though I've noticed a lot of anti cycling sentiment from the authorities in the past few years, stuff like greatly increasing fines for stupid bullshit then actually going out and enforcing them, and i think a bikeway got torn up too.

Shit's fucked, with our climate aside from when the road's literally melting you can cycle almost year round, but the user share is rock bottom.
