>>1249602>>1249602Before you drive yourself nuts, finish the rest of the adjustment on a test ride. Even if you have it perfect on the stand, there is _usually_ slight differences when ridden.
Get it the best you can in the stand, put the screwdriver in your pocket, and ride around your neighborhood.
Once the biggest and smallest cogs index to either end of your shifter, your limits are set; put away the screwdriver. Problems with the in-between gears use the barrel adjust on the RD where the cable housing enters the mech. With your eyes facing the barrel, turn it the same direction as you want the chain to travel towards the cog it isn't reaching i.e. from a big to a smaller cog: clockwise; from a small to a larger cog: counter-clockwise.
Turn in small increments; a half turn or so at a time and retest on the bike.
If your barrel bottoms out\unscrews totally, reset the barrel (see
Parktool.com --- not a bad idea to watch their full derailleur vid, too)
Some models have a barrel on the lever, too, for an extra layer of fun.
None of this matters if your cable tension is fucked to begin with.
Check that first. Sorry, I should have said.
