They were always a nostalgia brand- like buying a brand new car styled like a 1962 el dorado. Now that they are made in Thailand instead of Milwaukee and Kansas City they should be dropped from all consideration.
Here in the US if you don't want to spend 25k on a bike the best options are the bikes made in Japan. Yamaha and Kawasaki have great prices on their bikes here, both cruiser or sport bike style.
I would be hesistant to buy any bike that isn't made in the USA, Germany or Japan.
