you don't take your bike packing rig on double black diamonds and shit senpai. Even with squish you just don't. All your shit goes flying around and on top of that the gear compresses the suspension and causes crazy pogoing (at least in my experience). Fatter tires (2.4-2.6 sweet spot) and fire roads/double track/hardpack single track is wheres its at for bike camping. Squish is unnecessary.

why dont these bikes have some sort of front shock? it doenst have to be a huge shit, but ive ridden some old 90's mtb with and without shocks.. and the ride improves a lot with a light shock with lil travel...its just way more confy, and lil weight more i guess.. or am i missing something?

Apparently that elevated chainstay design means that less mud gets stuck in the frame. And it should provide for some extra stiffness. I think it looks kinda neat. A lot of framebuilders have been experimenting with asymmetry for a few years now, so I think it's here to stay.
