>>1267792>Blaming good droners for not sanctioning the bad droners is moronic.Do you not understand 'peer pressure'?
Look, buddy, here's the real problem: The vast majority of drone owners, from the beginning, would HOWL if anyone proposed any sort of code-of-conduct or regulation of drones of any sort. They also howled at the mere mention of them being engineered in any way that would restrict their operation. They clearly and objectively wanted drones to be The Wild West, no rules, no restrictions. Do you not think I've been paying attention this whole time? Do you think I'm making this shit up? Now, because they refused to get on board with any sort of civilized use for these gods-be-damned things, you have assholes using them in destructive and illegal ways. It doesn't matter if they're only a small percentage of drone owners, they *can* and *do* ruin it for everyone else. Public safety cannot be threatened by privately-owned drones. Peoples' privacy cannot, either. The sovereignity of people on their private property cannot be violated. You cannot have pedos with drones spying on people's *KIDS*, for fuck's sake, and don't try to tell me that hasn't happened because it *documentably* HAS happened.
Again: why have we come to this point? Because drone owners, *as a class*, refused, *from the beginning*, to allow themselves to be regulated in *any way*, which signalled to bad drone owners that their bad behavior was *acceptable*. THAT is how drone owners, *as an entire class of people*, failed to 'police their own'.
..and now, a technology that was cool and interesting, is now *ruined* for people, *including myself*, who might have enjoyed it. The damage is done. Even if there's laws, even if bad drone owners are publicly shamed and prosecuted, the public opinion of drones and drone owners is tarnished; you are assumed to be *bad* if you are seen flying a drone and will be treated as such.
Just ban the damned things for now.
