"Disaster on the Coastliner" was the 1st train movie I saw. I remember being allowed to watch it on tv when it first came out when I was a kid. "Silver Streak" was 2nd about 9 yrs later.

That's the movie that used an FM C-Liner in the promo poster. A locomotive struck off the roster about 25 yrs earlier. Haven't seen the movie yet, looks B-grade.

Recently retired LA Metro P865s repainted back to original liveries for use in filming Captain Marvel. As far as I know, these were subsequently scrapped. Only 2 out of 54 were preserved, although all 15 P2020s, identical but with an unused capability for automated operations, remain in service for now.

The empty spot behind the platform (visible for a few seconds after the Chicago-bound Metra train passes) is abandoned North Shore Line right-of-way, now a bicycle trail.

The details on the American Tail locomotive are so precise that I'm certain it's based on a real-life one. The rail line is entirely fictional, of course.
