My only serious cycling accident accured at 5mph when I briefly hopped onto a sidewalk. Be careful out there. Tall grass disguises raised cement. Hit from a low angle and you might hit head on a curb

On sidewalk at least 20 cm of concrete protects you from dumbasses.
As long as you cross roads as pedestrian, sidewalks are safer. Otherwise, pedestrians would be hit just as well, but they aren't.

How slow and on what wheels are you able to comfortably ride on the sidewalk?
In australia its a 300 dollar fine if you ride on the sidewalk so I only do it when I have to or on shared paths, but its never as comfortable and flat as a bit of road.

When I went to Iceland everyone rode on the sidewalks because they we're a continuous asphalt road, pretty much like a bike path. Plus, hardly anyone walks anywhere, everyone has a car, and most roads are highway-like, so it was pretty nice.

Please try and tell the boy in town who's dead.
He was riding on the sidewalk along a busier road (With traffic), and some asshole in a minivan making a left onto that road hooked him into traffic and he got squished. Car ignored the stop line, and since he didn't see a big car shape in his periphery, he turned it into a deadly rolling stop.

If you live in a LA hellhole without trees or hills or driveways or street parking , might be good for you, but if you live anywhere east, you're just making yourself less visible .

The point is that you're in a less visible space than you would have been had you been in the road. You need to help drooling cagers see you and part of that is positioning.
You're not going to get anywhere at walking speed, stopping and checking each driveway and each corner.

Residential with lots of driveways, trees, and parked cars -> ride in street.
Office park with busy road, long continuous sidewalks, high visibility driveways -> ride on sidewalk

Adding on, visiblity is important but more and more people are looking at their phone and simply aren't going to see you when they drift into bike lane etc. If I can minimize that I'll do it.
I see people cross into bike lane everyday, I basically never see people ride up on sidewalk.

In US-like suburbs you're better riding on street. Speed is low, so it is not a big deal, plus, sidewalks there have too many driveways and viewing obstacles, which makes it quite annoying to drive safely... And flying off sidewalk ends up in emergency room, or in grave yard.
In Moscow-like setting, where you have super busy 2-lane streets with speeds over 60 km/h (since everyone is speeding "free" 20 km/h), you're better riding on sidewalk, since it is empty, has no interruptions. Just keep eye on pedestrians.

Riding a bicycle requires way more attention, than flying a plane I guess, since you have to monitor road situation really good.

What do you mean? Like I said residential is dumb place to ride on sidewalk because it's usually full of low visibility driveways, bad sidewalks, and the street is usually low speed and low traffic.
Compare to plenty of places near me where it's high speed and high traffic roads with basically empty unbroken long sidewalks. Also bike lanes/road sides often have trash and other crap in them, slip up once and you could fall into nearest lane.

Sure, and this is common thing that seems to make cyclists get butthurt over riding on sidewalk because they see it as harmful to the larger cycling cause. But at the end of the day I'm going to do what I feel is best for my personal safety and comfort as a rider. I'm not riding my bike to store and work as protest everyday that's tiring.

But still, if angle is too narrow, rear wheel won't get on pavement easily, and this will make you loose speed, which is the last thing you want.
Anyway, stuff is intuitive. If you can't into overcoming such obstacles - you shouldn't ride a bike at all.

Bear in mind that I would always hit obstacles at that angle, but did not realize there was a 2" height difference between the grass and sidewalk. The terrain dipped suddenly before the cement, and was covered in uncut grass, creating a visual effect where the grass terrain seemed well above the cement
