Other helicopters, like the Seahawk and the Sea King also have pretty poor safety records, and I cannot really tell if this is because they are military helicopters, and as a result, have some more lax safety standards compared to civilian aircraft (though that would still bring into question why so many civilian versions of helicopters like the Chinook and the Sea King have crashed in the North Sea), or whether or not this is as a consequence of both Boeing/Sikorsky not really training crews well enough, or Boeing/Sikorsky having some pretty questionable quality assurance. That still leaves the question open as to why UK built versions still have similar issues, despite having been built by AgustaWestland (which has since been taken over by Leonardo, which also has made the Typhoon, the Tornado, the ATR and some other successful aircraft with other European partners).
