Keep in mind different devices and different networks can alter that count and surly there are a few lurkers as well. One person sees another person do something they like then copies it a little differently. Then another person sees that person doing something but a little different from the first and copies that a little differently. It's a game of telephone essentially but do this enough times then trends look radically different in retrospect from the current trend. Some people stick to their guns and never change while others continue evolving ideas and there's the few that completely jump ship. Trends are cyclical but they come back a little different every time. Observe these things long enough and you can read what year a person got stuck in.
