>>1284187I had my bike stolen from work last year, because I was at work I had to call the cops and do a security report(my boss wanted money for a CCTV and security reports would help justify the request). If she hadn't insisted on it I would probably not have bothered calling them because of how futile it all felt.
Anyway four hours later the cops called me and said they found it while arresting the guy for something unrelated and it was in his living room.
Also turns out when I "locked" it to the fence I didn't properly loop the chain through so it was just locked through the back wheel/frame and he was able to carry it off.
So it does happen that you get it back.
I still just use a single bikelock/chain, through the back wheel and frame. It works for 90% of cases. I also managed to get a sweet spot inside my building to dump the Ike during working hours(and non-working hours when I'm in the area) which has reduced my stress over getting my bike stolen by 99%. Not a universal solution I know but it works for means makes me twice as committed to keeping my job as a result.
Sadly we never got the CCTV.
