>>1284909>oh look, it's fringie whinging and whining about cagers again!Listen Fringie, just accept that so-called 'public transportation' is for POOR PEOPLE and get over it.
People who can afford personal transportation will have personal transportation, no amount of whining, crying, yelling, and protesting is going to change that, and people are not going to pay more taxes to pay for something they're not using. Just get over it.
People have *always* wanted personal transportation, since before the dawn of human civilization. Didn't matter if it was riding oxen, or having slaves carry you on a litter, they'd do it if it meant they didn't have to walk. Poor people walked.
What you don't understand is that it makes sense to have personal transportation. If you can only run away from a predator, the predator is either going to be faster than you, and you get eaten, or it'll wear you down, and you get eaten anyway. If you have a horse, the horse can run away from the predator -- and it doesn't matter if the predator has four legs and claws, or two legs and a *weapon*, you're more likely to get away and continue living.
Riding bicycles everywhere eats up energy, makes you tired, you have to spend more money on food.
Being out in the elements 365 days a year makes you more susceptible to illness.
Cramming yourself into buses and subway cars and whatnot with a whole bunch of people just exposes you to more chances to become ill.
Like it or not, public transit is always going to be the province of The Poor, until if and when they stop being Poor -- in which case they get A CAR and stop exposing themselves to all the filthy problems of public transit.
Additionally having A CAR is a status symbol: it signals to everyone around you that you're more prosperous than the filthy masses on the bus or train, therefore your social value is higher. That opens doors.
You can't get around any of this. It simply *IS*. (You) and everyone like (You) are the weirdos, here.
