>>1289255Sure, for a cargo bike it makes sense, although I don't really see why they did it on this bike and didn't just design a front loading cargo bike instead. The amount of cargo you can realistically load into the rear oversized pannier's just barely justifies the use of a motor to me. It would be much better suited for a delivery bike or trike that has a large, open cargo space.
As far as the brand goes, I think this bike is kinda anathema to Surly's own image its created for itself but granted that its for a utilitarian type bike I think it gets a pass. However if it opens the door to more ebikes for their recreational models, I think the brand is a complete sell out by that point.
