>>1308520I've done long tours with pic related, cheap shorts (2), cotton boxers (4), loose shirt, leather shoes
a few merino baselayers, some short, some long, some tight, some loose
1 cotton tshirt
1 pair polyester thermal leggings
a thin windbreaker
a rain shell
2 pairs cotton socks, 2 pairs merino socks
some loose thin, light comfy camp pants
gloves
a big headscarf thing
& a down vest
& a brooks
with 0 butthurt
brooks are pretty amazing for touring, they don't work for everyone though.
I've also done tours with a couple pairs of bibs, jerseys, spds, and a hard road saddle
That worked well too, but chamois takes way longer to dry than underwear does, so it's harder to manage the washing. I hate putting on dirty bibs.
In comparison, you can put a tiny dab washing soap, or even handsoap on some underwear, scrub it a bit under a tap, or in a river, wring it out, and airdry it without much fuss. Same goes for thinner cotton socks. The same basically goes for the thin cheap shorts i like. Be wary of any clothing which takes a long time to dry. Merino baselayers are an exception, because polyester dries quicker, but it smells when it's dirty or wet, and merino doesn't, it goes a long time between washing, just air it out, it's pretty amazing really.
I rode a few days with a brit girl who wore cycling kit and just paid $4 each day to use a washer and drier, but it meant she could never freecamp, and i think that's a stupid expense. She did my washing though which was nice.
