>>1304719This is the CFM-LEAP engine, an engine which follows on from the legacy of the CFM-56.
The CFM-56 was an engine collaborative project created after a deal between the US and France. It is manufactured in part by both General Electric and Safran. Safran are more known for military jet engines and the Vulcain hydrolox rocket engine which powers the Ariane 5 and will power the Ariane 6 (unless it is replaced with the Prometheus).
The CFM-56 was the only engine option for the 737 Classic and Next Generation as well as the Airbus A340-200 and -300. The CFM-56 was also an engine option among other options for the Airbus A320ceo.
The CFM LEAP is the exclusive engine option for the 737 MAX, but it is also an engine option for the Airbus A320neo. It is also the current engine option for the COMAC C919 before a domestic Chinese option is made ready. The Russian MC-21 can be modified for use with the CFM LEAP, but it is not a current engine option.
