Here in the greater Sacramento area we have 32 miles of paved multi-use path, between the downtown area and Folsom Lake, with no stop signs except where it crosses one public road, and there's spurs off it in numerous places. Great if you just want to get around, but most of us also use it for training purposes because there's no motor vehicle traffic.

The main trail that bisects my city (technically it's a bunch of different trails that all link up, the central part is the Pikes Peak Greenway) is pretty nice, it links to cities and towns to the north and south, is the feeder that all the east/west routes connect to, and is almost 50 miles from end to end. The 10 miles or so in the middle of the city are paved, and the rest is packed gravel. I touch the Greenway almost every time I ride because it provides a lot of handy shortcuts that avoid traffic lights, and because it crosses Monument creek at several points it's often part of the shortest route between two points, so I use one of the bridges on it every day on my commute to work.

the hudson river greenway is the best path for boomer cruising / observing city aesthetics / being comfy af. during the warm seasons, there cafes / bars open well into the evening.

There are a bunch of decent paths around denver. Best one ive been on is a 20 mile uninterrupted trail with no interaction with cagers that goes from Englewood to Thornton

I used to live in that area, thats a pretty decent ride. If you like to cyclocross a bit you can take the trail east into aurora and end up by the base.. lots of little side dirt trails off the main trail that reconnect and are fun as hell... pic related

If you're hard, you can cut up through north table mtn at the end of that path, and link up with the Ralston Creek trail which will take you east back through Arvada towards the S. Platte Trail/Denver

This is probably the best one in the Twin Cities. It is a submerged bike path with almost no at grade intersections that cuts through the center of the city. The path was built on abandoned railroad right of way that was grade separated after the city grew too dense around the rail line.

It used to be rather industrial and bleak but now the area has revitalized/gentrified so there are six story apartment buildings lining either side on one end.

The Banks-Vernonia Trail is neat. It's a nice 21 mile MUP west of Poorland Oregon, with some MTB trails branching off of it. It's not great for people with skinny tires...anything under 28c is going to suck for some of the worn pavement and the short gravel sections. There's also a motherfucker of a section with steep downhill switchbacks that messes every first-timer up. I like it, but I'd not mind a bypass for less skilled or athetic riders, as the climb uphill gasses most people.

We have other MUPs around the city but unfortunately most of them have become unusable at critical spots due to homeless. The Marine Drive one would be nice except for a section that forces riders out onto a street with drivers who are usually going way the helck too fast.

It's clogged with pedestrians and slow riders and has tons of stopsigns/intersections.

Best is a tough choice. West River Blvd between the Stone Arch Bridge and Minnehaha is probably a strong contender for best ride in the world. Same goes for the Dakotah Rail Trail.

Really, if you get out West of the city you can just string together a million different 100+ mile loops that are all unique and glorious.

The Gateway is pretty great too, but getting to it is less convenient for me.

American River Parkway in the Greater Sacramento, California area.
32 miles of continuous paved multi-use path unbroken by public roads or motor vehicle traffic.
Easy access to the river, Folsom Lake, and if you want more climbing there's plenty of streets and roads nearby that offer that.
You cannot beat this, prove me wrong. :-)

Right now there are tons of homeless people living in places along the ARP. So long as you leave them alone, they leave you alone.
In 20 years I'm aware of, there's been maybe 1 or 2 instances where there was an alert of any kind about anyone perpetrating any sort of 'attacks' on anyone along the whole 32 mile length of it. It's well patrolled and rangers are responsive. Really you have to worry more about the deer, turkeys, occasional coyotes, and the ever-present suicidal squirrels, than anyone attacking you. Even the non-cyclist *pedestrians* are more of a hazard.
