>>1315906>>1316119Lets see the alleged bikes in question. The frames need to be very good to even seriously consider these projects.
For the mystery bike, You also should be competent enough mechanically to true your own wheels and do other basic tasks before you even consider taking this on.
For the 80's bike, if it's worth restoring, you're probably getting crashed and discarded other bikes, and possibly doing a 700c conversion.
From the vague descriptions, these sound like complete overhauls. Anons estimates sound reasonable in price.
>>1316072It depends on how specific your needs are. Buying off the shelf, then getting a new wheelset, stem, handlebars, pedals, and saddle is very, common for performance road riders. Building up a bare frame doesn't look so bad by comparison, especially, if you can get a deal on a drivetrain.
>>1315536> What would you do if you owned this frame and wanted to do the kind of riding I mentioned (not racing, I’m more of an /out/ type)I would buy another bike. Follow anon's lead on the pave of what your bike is reasonably capable of.
>>1316159That explains why you keep proposing all those terrible ideas. I thought you were trolling. In any case, your time is better spent trying to squeeze a little drillium into your undoubtedly underspecced wheelset than trashing your race frame.
