>>1313315Not a poorfag at all. The problem with repairs isn't money, it's time. I got hit by a Jeep Wrangler on my last bike, flew about thirty feet. The bike flew further and was completely totaled. It was like a beloved dog dying in your arms. I only broke my big toe and had to pay a seventy-five dollar fine for going through a red. Got very lucky.
I've had the new bike for six months or so. I just invested in some kevlar tires (old ones went flat from city riding), fenders, lights, a rear rack, a couple reflectors, water bottle holders (and bottles), panniers, 20mm u-lock (old one broke because mud got in the mechanism as I didn't have fenders), and I'm looking at maybe a solar panel since my friend and I are doing a 700 mile trek this summer, but that's up for debate.
And, in fact, the reason I'm asking for advice on learning how to take it apart and put it back together again is because I want to give it a good paintjob now. So yeah... theft is a major concern.
