>>1313820Continental established the only transatlantic flight from one of my province's airports to Newark. It was part of the US' large interest and commitment to the province of Northern Ireland which was why Continental kept it going. We still have a US consulate here, which is interesting since no other countries maintain consulates here. Oh, and we used to have US Special Envoys here, but there hasn't been one appointed since the current administration took office.
United, after they took over, discontinued the route in 2017. A few months later, Norwegian Air Shuttle started flying with 737-800s to Newburgh and Providence, but they discontinued the Providence route and they ended all operations about a year later.
Virgin Atlantic also started seasonal charter flights to Orlando, but they do so with a 747-400 which picks up passengers in Gatwick before making the hop to BFS/EGAA. They then fuel up, take on passengers and then continue to Orlando.
The last 757 I took was back in 2015. That was a Thompson Airways flight from Manchester to Cape Verde.
