I think the Thickslick hate is just backlash from when fixed gear bikes were more popular, a few years ago. Otherwise, there is much hype for WTB tires.
I prefer it when the tops of the bars continue the visual line of the quill stem. I always think it's strange to see pursuit bars 'drooping down' like that.
I would have went with a tan or brown sidewall tire, probably from Panaracer, 栄光の日本タイヤ.
