>>1316201>Mechanical disc brakes barely workagree
the high end ones are way less common now
most cheep brands are rubbish and the disk warps from overheating
+ a gorillian types of pad and mounting system
stones caught in the disk vents
>Hydraulic disc brakes work no better than calipers.u wut ? Hydraulic brakes have so much mechanical advantage it almost does not matter how shit the pads are
the worst hydraulics Ive come across still out perform all but the most autistic precise set up of rim brakes
avid or tektro do good
>add weight and width.but at least you dont have to true the wheel rim to within + - .5 mm
or have to worry about the pads fucking up the rim or tire or spokes if your day is bad
>V brakes are best.no they have really fragile pads and finicky adjustment
in addition to this the pads have to be within 1 mm of the rim
>best ?>set them up and leave themside pull caliper - single or double pivot is fine
the tension spring is easy to adjust then hold in place with the bolt at the rear
if the wheel is bent the entire brake gets bumped out of the way
and on most of them the pads can only be adjusted for hight and rotation .eg less to fuck up
only part most people get wrong is the pressure of the lock nut that holds the arms in place
>never works well but never stops workingdrum break and coaster brake
they tend to heat soak shame they are not better ventilated / alloy finned
pads are a pain to change but this is gladly an infrequent task
>performance and durability45 and 90 degree canter levers with four finger brake levers
the 33 degree ones suck ass .esp with three finger brake levers
low end pads are a bit of a pain as most of them have a single bolt to adjust everything
height
rotation
toe in
engagement angle
depth (handy for worn out pads or bent wheels)
but some higher end models have the simple kind of pad with only height and rotation to adjust
>>1316202>tfw worn pivotsavid arch is a little better for this
