>>1339549Depends. Maybe with cpp and rudders they could be better but with azi not o mutch. All capt that came from commercial to offshore and had to work with azi used them like fixed cpp. They didn't comprehend what they were designed for.
Not having somebody experienced with azi as a c/o ( when I moved from mechant to offshore) I had no other solution but to resort to the internet and got some azi maneuvering manuals.
The bottom line. They had no fucking idee what they were doing.
And when a capt let me maneuver the vsl and did by the book he didn't even understood why the fuck I was doing what I was doing
Too many capts(older ones especially) relay on they exp only and refuse or are too lazy to bother learning anything new.
Hope I won't end up like this bit you never know.
The slow manevre depends on capt
Ive seen a capt coming alongside with 7 knts and doing a 90 deg turn 10m from the jetty. Impressive skill but if you miss judge something there is no time to fix your mistake.
I've done it a couple of times also, just to test my skill but realized after that I'm a fucking retard and if anything went wrong the best that could of happened would be me losing my licensee and ruin my career
If not killing me, somebody on the jetty or ship, ending up in jail. And for what? 5-10min earlier alongside? Is not worth it.
My maneuvers won't take 1hr but not 5mins either
Dp maneuvering alongside. In my current company they had 2 collisions because of this. The same fucking vsl. Ppl not understanding how dp works and what was designed for+ barely knowing how to use dp
