Conversely, we have the male stereotype that men should be strong/powerful/fit and that they should easily beat any woman at a physical contest. These stereotypes also affect women because they believe they should be the opposite in contrast.
Women can easily be as fit as men, yes at the very highest level they lose out, but most cycling groups aren't world class.
Deconstruction of gender roles helps everyone, and would help combat the reality that women are slow to fit into an idealized version of what a woman should be (in this case, a pretty but helpless maiden).
By the way, I'm a man and I unironically believe that removing gender stereotypes benefits everyone. The idea that men are big strong brutes gets a lot of men killed every year trying to prove their masculinity, and contributes to a lot of negative situations for men. I don't think 3rd wave feminism is much help for anyone.
