Take St. Louis, for example. Ralson Foods used to be based there. They took shipments on giant grain barges of raw grain and turned it into cereals which was then shipped out.
Nowadays they don't have cereal cities like they used to (Buffalo and STL were the big ones) so those good union jobs and good white collar jobs are all gone.
