>>1336516Oh, so because you realise that your "renewal" debate was absolutely retarded, see pic related if you want, there are literally 0 relevant search results for it, you're moving on to something completely different?
Feel free to point out where I said the franchise model worked well. All I did was counter the point made by some guy that implied it was due to the government alone that the UK rail network is as good as it is.
But if you want to have this argument, I'm fine to have it. If the best you can come up with is THAT, I don't think it's going to be particularly challenging.
>m-muh subsidy increaseNo shit Sherlock, do you not know how much passenger numbers have risen?
>m-massively raise pricesWho is it that sets most prices? Oh wait, the government.
>m-muh profitsNo shit, it's run by private companies. Have you actually looked at the balance sheets for some of the TOCs? The amount of profit being made is nowhere near as high as you think it is. Also, you do realise a fair chunk of it does back to the DfT, right? That's quite literally what the article I linked says. If the TOC does well, the government (i.e. Network Rail) get more money to invest into the railways, for projects such as the ECML in cab signalling upgrades.
>m-muh bare minimum to operateDo you even know what a TOC is? All they do is run a train service. They have absolutely nothing to do with the infrastructure and they don't even own a lot (if not most) of the trains themselves.
Please, come back with something better or just shut the fuck up.
