Used a cheap one quite some time ago.
The good advantage is that it makes a okay seat pretty good.
The really big advantage is that you don't need to do any adjustment to riding position on cobblestone or gravel.

The bad part is that it still depends on how comfortable your seat is in the first place. So it will be a big improvement, but even bigger if its a nice seat.

Ive got the ergon cf3 on my canyon.
Its noticeably more comfy than my enve 27.2 carbon post.
Not really a pogo stick since at most it will flex maybe 2 to 3 mm and thats if you hit a pot hole.

Got Canyon's VLCS 2.0 leaf spring seatpost and it's truly great. The difference on rough roads is night and day, and it does not feel like there's any loss of power with normal pedaling.

Unless you're racing professionally and need those miliseconds, get a leaf spring seatpost for that extra comfort and fatigue reduction.

The only thing that pisses me off about the Canyon seatpost is that it's almost the same price to buy the seatpost as it is to just upgrade to full ultegra. Why can't they just sell it at the correct price? I don't need ultegra.

Inconsistent saddle to pedal distance produces inconsistent power output and pedal cadence. It's fine for cruising around but if you're serious about throwing down power, it hurts more than it helps.
