that type of BB is susceptible to water ingress if it comes slightly loose
make sure to check the bottom bracket bearing tension and keep a little grease around the inside of the shell (oil would only make the grease allready there too thin)
the adjusting cone on the non chain ring side can rotate slightly independent of the lock nut and the lock washer tab is always a little flogged
in effect once the adjusting cone and lock nut are counter rotated against each other firmly enough
future adjustments to the adjusting cone can be made using only the lock nut
every so often give the crank arm a wiggle side to side
the end of the crank where the pedal mounts ideally should not move more than 0.1 of a mm if at all but will survive 0.5 mm or less for a long time
get the bearing as tight as you can while also maintaining its ability to rotate smoothly
if the bearing is too tight each ball bearing can be felt as a sort of notch while rotating
its a difficult process so defer to a day when you have spare time or enough money to take it to a bike shop / bike repair junk yard
also your pedal is likely the smaller 1/2" thread size
the cheapest possible pedals are $5 for two
but since the right pedal is always wearing out first you may want to buy just one of better quality for 5 to 8 $
but $15 per pedal is a more ordinary price only problem buying one at a time will be finding a seller who knows the difference between a right pedal and a left one lmfao

it can be better in the long run as a bike shop will tend to know more about the products it sells have have a slightly less hostile and indifferent return policy
or one would hope so
