What do you ride on? I currently ride on a generic faux leather topped foam plastic touring saddle that came with my bike. Want to upgrade to pic related - Selle Anatomic R2 rubber saddle.

Tried out a Brooks B17 Imperial last year. Then I bought one for each of my bikes cause all my ass problems disappeared with it.

Whatever any of you cyclists of /n/ buy, be sure you understand that you not only need the correct *width* saddle, but also the right *shape*. They're not all shaped the same, just like all cyclists are not shaped the same. Most so-called 'racing saddles' are shaped for narrow-hipped, skinny guys. If you have massive thighs, you'll probably find you have to buy a wider version of the typical racing saddle because you sit farther forward on it, and you won't be very comfortable on it regardless. This also goes for non-racing saddles. What works for someone else isn't necessarily going to work for you. This is where going to a shop that is skilled at bike fitting makes a whole lot of sense, assuming they understand what I'm talking about, they'll take a hard look at you and how you're built and make intelligent suggestions about what sort of saddle you might try. Also by the way a decent shop will have 'loaner' saddles you can try for a week or so to see how it works for you before actually buying one (which by the way explodes the whole 'bike fitting is a waste of money' meme).

Selle Italia Turbo Matic 2 on my beater (which is what I ride on 90% of the time). Damn comfortable, has outlived a couple of bikes already. I even got a cheap ass faux-leather knockoff for when it breaks, looks exactly the same but haven't tried it yet.

The brooks are brooks, they work for me. Strangely though I find the width of the cambium 15 to be equivalent to a worn in leather 17.

The WTB Pure V is new and I just did a mixed surface double century on it with good results.

I don't much like the Charge Spoons despite having tried them on many different bikes, so I'm looking for a wide-ish, flat-topped, narrow-nosed lightweight saddle for my super six.

It's perfect for me, and it's cheap. Your mileage may vary, but it's a good starting point. I'm seeing a lot of Fabric Scoops as OEM on bikes now though, and I believe it's the same shape as the old Charge Knife. I wonder if they're any good.

My other 90s mtb came with a Planet Bike ARS Classic. Has a lot of reviews on Amazon but I find it to be too squishy and pretty ugly

I'd rather take off a shifter or one of my brakes.

Pic related has served me for 5 years. 30+ miles has been no problem and if I ever wanted to go farther I'm pretty sure I'd wear out a dozen other parts of my body before my crotch ever got uncomfortable. The 169mm width might be too wide for some, but it's just right for me. 'Normal' men's sized ones basically give me a wedgie.

Weight has nothing to do with it, padded saddles WILL become unbearable on long rides (no, not 30 miles, more like a century) because your body is rubbing against it which will cause chafing, as opposed to padded bibs where the padding is actually stuck to your body and moving with it, not against it.

After a 40km tour my ass got so sore that I propably need a new saddle.
Current one is this 125mm one:

I think it's good but it's just too small for me. I'm 195cm and my hip bone humps are 130mm apart.
What I'm looking for:
- riding without padded shorts
- clearance for prostate and venting
- good for 40km tours

Road bike saddles all seem too narrow so I'm looking more in the MTB field.
So far the Selle SMP series seems very promising. Massive middle clearance and available in a lot of sizes.

I ride a broken in brooks saddle and yesterday I did a 70 km ride in 32C temperatures, of which 15 km where on very bad gravel paths and halve of it was in the scorching sun with no shadow. Any seat discomfort I experienced was the least thing on my mind.

Leather is the only right material for bike saddles if you ride more than 20 km. Plastic/foam saddles are meant for people that neglect their bicycles and don't care about bicycles except for errands and small trips.

Magical leather properies are a meme.
Plastic materials can reproduce any leather hardness behaviour, leather propably just lasts 3x as long. Considering that a plastic one costs 3x less than a Brooks I don't see that as a problem.

My limit would be 60€
I think I'll order a Selle SMP TRK in large and see how it goes. It it sucks I'll send it back.

The closest match ive found so far is the Terry Liberator or Serfas RX but idk. Its already pretty squished up front but it isnt torn ot creaky. Can probably last another 3000 miles, assuming I dont scuff it

I'm starting to enjoy my Fizik Aliante Gamma now that I have it in the proper position. I have the hardest time getting a feel for where a saddle needs to be.

When the road is smooth it feels fantastic. But when I start hitting bumps I'm immediately reminded that its no Brooks. But I'm willing to accept that tradeoff for a saddle that remains in the same effective position.

My main issue with Brooks saddles is that they can vary from ride to ride or even over the course of a ride. On humid days they stretch a bit more, likewise as you sweat onto them they stretch more later in a ride. I think Brooks switched to a thinner leather for the B17 over the past decade, and they break in stupid fast and usually need lacing within a few thousand km. I still like my Brooks saddles for my bikes I only ride a few hours. But for all day brevets they just stretch too much by the end.

i go without padding only because i don't pedal (etrike) and i've been a delivery man enough my ass is rock hard when i need it to be. But even then i wear padded shorts. Like ffs.

Memes aside it really depends on who you are and how you are built down there and I personally would attempt to ride in padded shorts plus the seller anatomica featured in OP's pic in a semi upright drop bar position for touring
