My extra bedroom is full of bikes. I don't own much stuff so I have no problem allocating one of my rooms exclusively to bikes.

Are you Kona Anon ? It yes a seperate secure temperature and humidity controlled is the correct answer. I have had 2 seperate Landlords complain about polished waxed chain bikes being inside the house months after I moved in. Boomer fucks didn't even ride and thought its was perfectly reasonable to keep them chained up outside in the elements. I lost my fu king shit. Police ended up being called. That's all I got to say on biku storage.

I leave mine out in the rain year round with no cover. To mitigate this, I just replace the chain twice a year and have a single speed bike. Ive been spraying it with wd-40 which seems to help keep it from locking up. I know its idiot-tier lube but it is miles better from nothing and I dont wanna go buy shit. 8 months in and its still running fantastic.

It is a lousy lubricant, but it’s pretty good at wetting metal and keeping water away. If you are going to leave a bike outside the chain should be waxed and WD is a good choice for all the other non-powertrain bits and pieces.
