It might upset weight weenies, but who cares about those autists. Overall it is in a decent place, yes it's on the wheel but it's also right in the hub, as close to the axis as it gets, so there isn't that much more rotational mass.
Plus you run a small front sprocket with these so you get bonus clearance.
