Velomobiles are the logical end result of the e-bike revolution.
Why?
The ICE engine was first put on a bicycle,
creating what is known today as the motorcycle.
The motorcycle was amazing. Now people could go further, faster.
But that wasn't enough. We needed stability and weather protection. A 4-wheeled vehicle with shell was made, and build around the ICE engine. The car as we know today was born.
Today we see the same thing repeating but now with Electric engines. E-bikes are amazing, people can now go further and faster.
But that isn't enough, we need stability and all weather protection. And thus the velomobile is born.
But why does the electric velomobile look so radically different from a car?
Electric velomobiles do not have to be shaped around a big square ICE engine. They also have different energy requirements. Petrol being much denser and in energy, thus a heavy, unaero vehicle can be made.
If an affordable e-car or electric velomobile however wants to be made, however, it needs to be much lighter and aerodynamic. Thus the 4-wheeled electric velomobile is born.
