The biggest problem with moon landing deniers is that they completely ignore the biggest hole in their theories, in that the US was in the middle of the space race with the USSR. They had the infrastructure to be able to track spacecraft going to the moon and signals coming back, because they had already done it themselves. And to elaborate further, if Soviet satellites were fake, then why did the US acknowledge Sputnik was real? The US had nothing in orbit, real, faked or otherwise and therefore had no stake in the matter, so why did they let the Soviets get away with it in the first place?

Walt Disney wasn't involved in the Apollo project, but he was convinced by Werner von Braun to make a TV series about the future of space exploration, which von Braun hosted. It's where von Barun laid out his vision for a manned space station and landing men on the moon. This got the public excited for space exploration and laid the political groundwork for the Apollo program.

Werner von Braun, of course, had been director of the V2 program, and was a Nazi and an SS officer, though it does seem that his involvement was motivated by an apolitical, opportunistic maneuvering to see his rocketry goals achieved.
