>>1374409I do know how to ride a normal bike, I just feel unsafe riding one cause I cant put my feet on the ground, and because I am so high up. It feels like I am riding something out of the 1800s and not the modern day. Which of course is what we are doing.
What you suggest- to alleviate pain by bending forward and instead put pressure on the wrists and neck, is the worst possible solution. A) it's not any safer at all, in fact you just made the bike even more dangerous, with the user in a head-first position) and B) while saddle pressure might have been reduced, perineum pressure has increased. Plus, do you like looking at asphalt?
Crank-forwards are the best normal bikes for normal rides, but if you do excessive riding past 30 minutes or 1 hour you must get a bike that puts you even lower and more reclined, spreading the pressure over a larger area, raising your legs up.
Get with the times, grandpa. Your unsafe 1800s bicycle will not be a part of the worlds transportation solution. Why do you think 90% in the Netherlands ride bikes for old ladies with step through frames that share more similarities with crank forwards than roadbikes ever will? And the elderly there are already swapping to CFs enmasse. It's only a matter of time before CFs take over. When they do, the path towards recumbents has been opened and the bicycle industry can finally evolve as a whole.
