In the real world, it's the same as real estate: "Location, Location, Location".
In my old neighborhood, I'd routinely leave my bike out, under the porch awning, but in plain view, 24/7 unless I was out riding it.
Did this for years, never got stolen. Nice bike, too.
Alternatively, you could just own pic related and no-one would want to steal it. (OC, btw, but not _my_ bike)
